Wildlife Safety Tips: On and Off the Trail

Stay on the Defined Trail. When hiking, stick to established trails & set up your tent on durable surfaces to avoid damaging the environment.
Keep Dogs on a Leash and close to you.
Do Not Approach Wildlife or move closer to get a picture.
Make Noise As You Walk. It will let animals know you’re nearby so you don’t startle them.
If Out at Dawn or Dusk Take Extra Precautions. Be extra alert.
Do Not Feed Wildlife. This includes stray cats.
Leave No Trace. Carry all food items out with you and ensure all garbage has a tight fitting lid.
