FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Westfield, NJ – February 25, 2026 – The Westfield Memorial Library is pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive three-year strategic planning process designed to guide the libraryās priorities, services, and community impact through 2029.
The library has long served as a cornerstone of learning, culture, and civic engagement since Westfield’s first public library building opened to residents in 1907. This new strategic plan will build on that legacy while positioning the institution to meet evolving community needs.
To support this important initiative, the library has engaged Library Logic Consulting, a specialized firm that helps libraries with strategic planning, organizational development, and staff training to create inclusive and innovative community experiences. The consultants will work closely with library leadership, staff, trustees, and community stakeholders to develop a clear, actionable roadmap for the next three years.
āStrategic planning bridges a libraryās present and potential, aligning resources and services with the people they serve,ā said Chelsea Coleman, co-founder of Library Logic Consulting. āThe best libraries are built with their communities, not just for them. Weāre honored to partner with Westfield Memorial Library to craft a vision reflecting its vibrant townās needs and values.ā
The planning process will include surveys, focus groups, stakeholder interviews, and other opportunities for community input. Residents, library cardholders, local business owners, educators, and community partners will be invited to share their perspectives on current services and future opportunities.
āAs a public library, our responsibility is to listen first,ā said Library Director Allen McGinley. āThis strategic plan will reflect the voices, values, and aspirations of our community. We want to ensure that Westfield Memorial Library continues to be responsive, innovative, and welcoming to all.ā
Key areas of focus are expected to include collection development, technology access, programming for all ages, facility improvements, community partnerships, and long-term financial sustainability.
The strategic planning process will officially begin the first week of March with focus groups for seniors, community partners, high school students, and library staff. Other opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks including virtual focus groups with parents of school-aged children, and the general public. The completed plan is expected to be presented to the Libraryās Board of Trustees for adoption in June.
Community members are encouraged to participate and help shape the future of Westfield’s beloved library.
