Library cards are issued free to anyone who lives, works, pays taxes or attends school, K-12, in Westfield.
To get a card, you must apply online. Please fill out your full Westfield address, phone number, and email address.
If you are under 18, you must provide birthdate and guardian’s name. You must include a valid Westfield work address if you work in town or school address if non-resident attending Westfield school.
The Library will issue free library cards to all persons who live, work, go to elementary or secondary school, or own property in the Town of Westfield. Certain restrictions may apply to non-residents. Non-residents may opt to purchase a yearly full service library card. M.U.R.A.L. cards are issued according to the provisions of the M.U.R.A.L. agreement.
Full Access Cards
Holders of these cards can borrow all materials and attend all programs. Resident cardholders may obtain full-service cards for all children for whom they have legal guardianship. Residents who have non-resident grandchildren visiting them will be permitted to bring the children to children’s programs depending upon space availability.
Resident: a person who lives in Westfield and can provide evidence of a Westfield
mailing address.
Temporary–a non-resident who lives with a Westfield resident for a short period of time,
usually no more than a year.
Purchased–a non-resident who lives anywhere outside of Westfield. The current purchase cost is $90.
Limited Access Cards
Holders of these cards can borrow all materials. Access to certain programs, including, but not limited to; Children’s Story Programs. Children’s Summer Reading Club and other programs as may be determined by the Library at the time to be in high demand are restricted.
Non-resident property owner: a person who owns commercial or residential property
in Westfield and can provide evidence of current ownership. Card is issued to
qualifying individuals. Privileges do not extend to family members.
Non-resident student: a person who attends a pre-school, elementary or secondary
public or private school or in Westfield and can provide evidence of current enrollment.
The card is issued for the school year only – September through June.
Non-resident business owner: a person who owns and operates a business in
Westfield and can provide evidence of Westfield business ownership regardless of
commercial or residential property ownership. Card is issued to qualifying individuals.
Privileges do not extend to family members.
Non-resident employee: a person who is employed at an establishment in Westfield
and can provide evidence of current Westfield employment.
M.U.R.A.L. Cards
A non-resident whose primary library is one that participates in the M.U.R.A.L. program. M.U.R.A.L. card holders cannot:
- Borrow 14 Day New Fiction or Non-Fiction books
- Borrow Playaway Views
- Borrow E-readers
- Borrow Museum Passes
- Place items on “Hold”
- Request items through Inter-Library Loan
- Attend programs restricted to Full Service Cards
Library cards are issued to an individual and are not transferable.
