The Westfield Library provides access to downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks.
All of this content is available on a number of devices, including smartphones, laptop computers, and tablets.
Our e-content is available through multiple vendors, most of which provide content on multiple formats. The following are the different formats of e-content we make available to you and the various vendors that provide it.
Axis 360
Axis 360’s collection includes thousands of titles for adults, teens, and children; fiction and non-fiction. Titles are automatically returned at the end of the loan period, and there are no late fees.

Libby (also known as Overdrive and eLibraryNJ)
This extensive collection contains fiction and and non-fiction eAudiobooks and ebooks, with an emphasis on popular titles. For tablet and smartphone users eLibraryNJ uses a mobile app called “Libby” to help make selecting and borrowing titles quick and easy! Most titles are available for Apple, Android, and Amazon devices.

Note 1: When you log in, you must log in as “Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium.”
Note 2: Amazon Fire users will need to download the app, but Kindle users do not need to download the Libby app because Kindle has its own software to enable users to download ebooks and eaudiobooks.
People who will read ebooks and eaudiobooks on a laptop or desktop do not need to download the app.
Hoopla
This collection contains popular fiction and non-fiction eAudiobooks and ebooks, and a great selection of comics. The site includes “trending searches” and new titles are added constantly. All titles are always available, so no need to put yourself on waiting lists! Hoopla is available for Apple, Android, and Kindle devices. Patrons can borrow up to six total items from Hoopla per month.

People who will read ebooks and eaudiobooks on a laptop or desktop do not need to download the app.
Freading
This resource has a comprehensive collection of fiction and non-fiction ebooks. Freading’s titles are always available. Patrons can now borrow up to three books per week. Unused book allotment will be rolled over to the next week and up to three subsequent weeks. (Freading does not have eAudiobooks)

Works with most tablets, but please see this FAQ page (link) for information on downloading to a Kindle Fire.
People who will read ebooks on a laptop or desktop do not need to download the Freading app, but do need to download Adobe Digital Editions and establish an Adobe Digital Editions account.
EBSCO’s eBooks
This collection consists of thousands of eBook titles from a variety of publishers. Most of the titles are non-fiction. All the titles can be read online, without a download but most are downloadable as well. (EBSCO eBooks does not have eAudiobooks)

You do not need to download an app if you are on a desktop or laptop computer.
If you are going to download an ebook directly to an ereader, tablet, or smartphone other than a Kindle you must download the relevant App and get an Adobe account. If you are going to download an ebook to a Kindle or to a Kindle-app (on a non-Kindle device) you do not need to get an Adobe account.
